Accessibility declaration

23/10/2019, last update 24/03/2026

BIRA-IASB is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website and in doing so adhere to many of the available standards and guidelines. This accessibility statement applies to the website www.aeronomie.be and all subdomains of aeronomie.be (e.g. tropo.aeronomie.be).

Legal framework:

Which accessibility guidelines?

This website endeavours to conform to:

These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines will help make the web more user friendly for all people.

This site has been built using code compliant with W3C standards for HTML and CSS. The site displays correctly in current browsers and using standards compliant HTML/CSS code means any future browsers will also display it correctly.

Compliance status

The Belgian Web Accessibility Office (Federale Overheidsdienst BOSA) supports BIRA-IASB in making digital information accessible. This web accessibility expert provides us with compliance reports.

A simplified audit of this website was carried out. It showed that the website is partially compliant in terms of digital accessibility.

Inaccessible content

Whilst BIRA-IASB strives to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website.

The latest audit report highlights problems in particular with:

  • the contrast between text and background colours (corrected)
  • the use of <iframes> on a few specific pages.

Alternatives

There are no alternatives to the inaccessible content mentioned above.

Improvement plan

The BIRA-IASB has optimised the established primary and secondary corporate colours to improve the contrast between text and background colours on screens, taking into account the existing application of this visual identity across all other communication channels. The remaining (less frequent) errors will be corrected one by one.
